Si tu m'entends petit baby, on est prêt, on t'attends donc c'est quand tu veux!
Qu'en pensez vous? Vous aimez? Connaissiez vous STOKKE? Avez vous des conseils pour une future maman qui commence à paniquer ;) ?
The long-awaited article is on the blog: our baby's room! Let's start from the beginning, surprise surprise: I'm pregnant. After the first moments of joy, the first questions came along such as: OMG OMG do we need to move? Yes folks, you guessed it : we didn't have a baby's room. Should we move? Should we stay? Final decision: we are staying but remodeling the flat. We won the place, and although the apartment is not very big (about 70 m2), we decided to do some work (which it clearly needed) to be able to stay there a year or two with the baby, it seemed like the best solution for us. Already, we were lucky that our parents could host us so long, I did not want to go to an airbnb for that long - such a pain right? It's the beginning of life with a child, we must adapt and do the best we can!
The baby's room is not very big about 10m2 but that's enough for him (for now). I chose not to reduce our living space too much, because, oh well I don't like small rooms. We then looked at the furniture and all that is needed for the arrival of a new little human. Personally, I knew nothing (I still do not know much :0) but I began to learn about the different brands, their philosophies, the materials they use, their size, if they were going to make our lives easier and how.
I didn't want to go to a lot of different stores and brands, choose the bed from one brand, the baby carrier from another, it seemed better to find the brand that suited us best and just get everything. Our final choice was STOKKE I had heard a lot from other friends that are already moms, I just loved their strollers when I tried them out. These are all personal choices, of course! But I wanted the little baby to be comfortable first and foremost.
As a mother-to-be, I was really won over by their philosophy that puts the child and his interest first. Trust me, a lot of brands think about the parents and how to make their lives easier which is great but I still wanted my child to be the priority. Each STOKKE product is designed to encourage the development of the little one through exchanges and strong visual contact that is supposed to reinforce the parent-child bond. The brand places the child at our height, thanks to the high chairs, deckchair and stroller for a better exchange. For me, the choice was made.
Each product is evolutionary until at least 3 years old. The small cradle turns into a toddler bed thanks to extensions and a new mattress. The price is a little higher than a normal cradle, but you actually keep it a long longer (up to six years). Again, I like the convenience of not having to go back to the store and having to choose a crib in 6 months because the baby no longer fits in the cradle! I think that in six months, with the baby there with us, I will have other things to worry about. We have everything in the garage, ready to installed in a moment's notice. That really reassures me.
As the room is small (hard reality of life), we also had to find furniture that is practical and not too big! We chose the dresser because it allowed to install a changing table kit on it. I did not want a dresser with a simple mattress on it. Accidents happen so quickly, and I'm not an expert yet, it's my first baby I have to learn everything. Safety first, as they say! The kit is super safe thus the baby can not slip. I took the small extension also to be able to put the products (I chose Uriage to start and I made myself a small stock so I don't have that in my mind either for the first couple of weeks).
I also have a great stroller but I will tell you about it in another post, once I have actually taken the baby for a spin.
Concerning the interior design, everything is white to be able to add small touches of colors when I feel like it. I was very spoiled at my baby shower, and my friends gave me all of stuffed toys animals.
The baby is due around December 20th but I really hope he comes sooner. The wait is killing me really! I am so IMPATIENT to see his face, discover each other. So excited, what a crazy ride!
Did you know the brand Stokke? any advice for a mama to be?
